Who We Are

The Conservation Political Action Committee (CPAC), is a non-partisan, affiliated political action committee established by the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters (formerly called Conservation Council of NC). Through the Conservation PAC, NCLCV can work directly in the political process to hold our elected officials accountable for better environmental decision-making. This makes NCLCV unique from most environmental organizations who cannot engage directly in the political process. The work that we do in elections ultimately enables land trusts, river protection groups, other environmental advocates, and other groups working at the state level to be more effective because we work hard to elect candidates who will pass policies that ensure clean air, clean water, and the health of our communities.

Our Vision

Our vision for the future is a pro-conservation majority in the General Assembly, setting sound environmental policies that protect North Carolina's environment, economy, and communities. We envision the environment becoming a top-tier voting issue. Ultimately, we envision a state government that engages thoughtfully in the environmental debate, environmental champions committed to passing sound environmental laws, and state agencies willing and able to enforce those laws.

To get there, we need more citizens thinking, acting, and voting on behalf of the environment—and helping hold our elected leaders accountable for a better environment.

Who We Are

The Conservation PAC was established in 1999 by the NC League of Conservation Voters. It is an affiliated political action committee made up of environmental leaders and political activists, and registered with the State Board of Elections. Committee recommendations about endorsements are approved by the Board of NCLCV.

We are members of the national League of Conservation Voters, an organization that works to elect pro-conservation candidates to Congress and pass strong national environmental policies.
